1. Sonoff Basic Module - Sonoff is a Chinese company that makes inexpensive but decent home automation products. The nice thing is that they seem to cater to the DIY/Maker crowd. While their products work with their own apps and cloud services, the firmware that resides in the ESP8266 processor can be flashed with an open source firmware called Tasmota allowing you to bypass all of that and custom design your own. The Basic Module can be had for about $5 to $7. If you can wait for the "slow boat" you can get them from Aliexpress. If your not willing to wait, well then there's Amazon. By the way, whether you use them as is or loaded with alternative firmware, they integrate pretty easily with Alexa.
  2. Module Opened - These things are very easy to open. The edge of a guitar pick or your thumbnail will separate the two halves. There's no glue or screws to deal with. It's almost like Sonoff made this for DIYers and Makers.
  3. PCB Closeup - To flash the unit
  4. 3D Printed Swith Housing - Thingivese
